Repossession agent shot – SWAT responds

Suspect still at large

San Diego, CA – August 26, 2022 – Early Friday morning, a recovery agent was shot by a borrower during a confrontation over a repossession in process. Police arrived and the SWAT unit moved in for an all-night siege.

According to a police spokesperson, the incident occurred at approximately 1am when the yet to be identified repossession agent was attempting to repossess and unidentified vehicle from a large apartment complex near the intersection of Palm Avenue and Hollister Drive in the Palm City neighborhood of San Diego.

Police report that a woman emerged from the apartments with several other persons, all of unknown interest in the vehicle, and confronted the agent. The unnamed woman allegedly pulled out a gun and shot the agent at least once.

The crowd quickly dispersed into the complex leaving the agent shot in the arm with at least one round. The agent was taken to the hospital by ambulance and is expected to survive.

Police moved in and requested SWAT back up to encircle the complex as they investigated the matter and searched for the suspects. Tightening their encirclement, they singled in on two apartments which they breeched.

Unfortunately, by 7:45am, their intrusions and investigation failed to result in the detention or arrest of any suspects.

The search for the yet to be named woman and any accomplices continues.
