Repo Shooter Sentenced to Federal Prison

Indianapolis, IN – January 19, 2023 – July 23rd of 2021 was not a good day for Austin Majko. First, the Repo Man came to repossess his car and then a girlfriend his “old lady” started giving him grief. But four rounds fired at the Repo Man and a swing of his pimp hand and all was right in his world. For a while at least…

Court records for The Southern District of Indiana’s branch of the United States Attorney’s Office reveal that on July 23, 2021, 33-year-old Austin Majko found himself in the unfortunate circumstance of having his 2013 Ford Focus repossessed.

Taking matters into his own hands, he produced a.40 caliber handgun and commenced to fire off four rounds at the repossession agent. Wisely, the agent retreated.

Later that same day, Majko had a domestic dispute with an unnamed woman who witnesses reported that he struck and pulled the gun from his waistband with which he then commenced to threaten her with.

When officers of the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department finally arrived at his home, they found the four bullet casings from the repo shooting as well as multiple guns hidden in toolboxes in his garage. One of which was the .40 pistol used earlier.

Having two prior felony convictions stemming from charges of robbery resulting in bodily injury, Majko is prohibited from possessing a firearm under federal law. The Southern District of Indiana’s branch of the United States Attorney’s Office announced on Wednesday that Majko has been sentenced to four years in federal prison for illegally possessing a firearm as a convicted felon.

There were no charges mentioned regarding his firing on the repossession agent or the domestic abuse charges.

“It unfortunately bears repeating that we all deserve to be safest in our homes, but for too many that is not the case,” stated Daryl S. McCormick, special agent in charge of ATF’s Columbus Field Division. “ATF will continue to work with our law enforcement partners to investigate and prosecute domestic abusers who possess firearms to ensure our communities are safe from these offenders.”

The case was investigated by both the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms (ATF) and the IMPD.
