Locksmithing for additional income
This year’s convention will include an extra hands-on locksmithing course designed to introduce our members to an additional source of income. Peggy Chapman, owner of Speedy Recovery, will be hosting this extra event on Tuesday November 8th from 1-4pm at her facility. The event will be limited to the first 35 members to sign up for the conference. Transportation will be provided to and from the Golden Nugget. For those who miss the deadline to attend the locksmithing course, I encourage you to urge your EC to bring it to next year’s 2023 Annual convention.
Harding Brooks
Midyear’s lineup includes Mike Peplinski and Renee Low both of Harding Brooks Insurance. Mike’s session will include information on the ever-changing insurance requirements as well as other important topics affecting our industry; Renee will bring to light the importance of the proper operation of tow trucks along with the increased liability of improper driving habits. Harding Brooks is also sponsoring the social event at Troy’s Liquor Bar overlooking Fremont Street planned for Thursday, Nov 10th.
EV Recovery Expert
Along with our own Machelle Morris, who will be updating us on current legislation that also affects our industry, we are pleased to be bringing on a totally new speaker to our events. Mr. Paul Stevens will be bringing us up to speed on the proper steps needed to effectively repossess the newest EV vehicles on the market today.
Mr. Stevens works with Allstate towing professionals instructing them on the proper ways to deal with the newest generation of electric vehicles. He will be discussing the proper ways to access the vehicles along with how to safely tow them. With the ever-increasing number of electric vehicles being sold today, it’s only a matter of time before this information will be helpful to anyone who recovers any electric vehicle built today. Damaging a vehicle could be costly, however; damaging one of the newest electric vehicles could stress anyone’s insurance coverage.
Safety
With all the continued violence against repossession agents, it is important that we be ever vigilant in the performance of our duties. Ron Brown will be discussing the importance of Situational Awareness. It is important that our agents recognize potential danger and react appropriately to the situation. Ron has experience in all matters pertaining to this subject and is a valuable tool in protecting our agents in the field.
Kevin Armstrong of CUCollector
We are also looking forward to Kevin Armstrong, publisher of the popular CURepossession, to bring all things repo to the convention. Kevin’s history within the industry and his extensive knowledge of current events will add valuable content to this year’s convention. We are looking forward to seeing everyone in Vegas for what is turning out to be a very informative mid-year conference.
Hope to See You at the Midyear Convention! November 8, 9, and 10
