Spring, TX – 5 February 2020 – A Texas Repo Man was shot in the chest and crashed his tow truck and repossessed vehicle in tow into a ditch at about 7:00am. Police initially thought it was a major crash, but quickly discovered the rear window had been shot out and the driver gravely wounded.
Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez, reported that the incident occurred just before 7 a.m. Wednesday on Spring Stuebner Road and Spring Plaza Drive near Spring, Texas
The driver, Pozzie Cowart Junior, who works as a repo driver for Coast to Coast Motors, was rushed to the hospital where he was stabilized and is listed in guarded condition.
“He is in good condition, he is stable but critical,” said Operations Manager of Coast to Coast Motors, Casey Allison.
Cowart Junior, had been employed with Coast to Coast Motors as a repossessor for over two years and a reported numerous years in the business. Casey Alison reported that Cowart had just repossessed a car and was on his way back to the dealership when someone opened fire, injuring Cowart.
“Pozzie is a fantastic employee he has been with us for a few years,” Allison said. “(He has) many years in the repossession business. (He is) military vet, just an outstanding, outstanding person.”
Police investigators are still working to learn more details about the shooting and who pulled the trigger. Allison claims that Cowart’s truck is equipped with two cameras and authorities are reviewing the footage for evidence.
In the aftermath, a police standoff took place at an apartment complex, near where the shooting took place, at the 21600 block of Spring Plaza Drive, where at 12:30pm CST, police reported that a person connected to the shooting was believed to be barricaded in.
After an hours long standoff, police failed to locate the suspect in this shooting. The investigation is still underway.
