CURepossession

Where the repossession industry gets its news

Ode to A Repossessor – 1947

There’s a man in every town,

Yes, and this man gets around

Rain or shine

     He’s on the find.

No, he’s no policeman with a gun

     And shiny badge,

Or a doctor with a little black bag.

It’s true he has a profession

     Which is hunting and guessing

And at that he must be good

Altho with most folks, his job

                 Is misunderstood.

He searches far and wide on the plains,

The hills and in the woods.

He’s lied to and lied about.

He’s accused, excused and kicked out.

But he never stops to fret and pout.

He may get tired but he never gives out.

He knows all the crooks, cheats, deadbeats

    And their hangouts.

It’s true he’ll snoop around.

In every alley, garage and hole in town.

He takes chances with his life

Which causes worry to his loved ones

          And wife.

He’s on the alert to all remarks

He grasps every conversation in every part

He never loses faith or heart

He’s shown very little respect

But even that he doesn’t expect.

But, after all he’s to be admired –

For his prompt and efficient services

          Are much desired.

So, in closing may I say

Don’t forget in some way to pay

Our faithful repossessors and investigators

     Their due respect and praise

For you are sure to need one of them

     Some of these days.
