GALR Meets with MVTrac to Discuss Contract Conflicts with Georgia Law

Las Vegas, NV — The Georgia Association of Licensed Repossessors (GALR) announces a productive and forward-looking industry dialogue held with MVTrac during Used Car Week, where GALR members and MVTrac engaged in substantive discussion regarding Georgia’s personal-property statute and its implications for modern repossession operations.

During a meeting at Red Rock Casino on November 19, GALR members and MVTrac representatives participated in an open and candid exchange focused on improving statutory alignment and operational clarity within Georgia’s repossession marketplace. GALR extends its sincere appreciation to MVTrac for their leadership as the first national forwarding partner to proactively meet with Georgia operators to evaluate the statutory structure under O.C.G.A. § 44-14-411.1.

The discussion included a detailed review of how current lender and forwarding contracts and policies—such as “free release” expectations, hold-harmless requirements, and suppressed or restricted key-access fees— conflict with Georgia law. GALR recognizes and appreciates MVTrac’s openness in assessing how these conflicts impact agencies and consumers throughout the recovery process.

MVTrac has requested additional time for its legal counsel to continue examining the issues presented in the Georgia Personal Property White Paper. A follow-up meeting is scheduled for December 15, where the organizations will continue working toward clearer guidance, improved alignment, and sustainable compliance practices that support both consumers and small business operators.

GALR encourages all lenders and forwarders operating in Georgia to engage in similar discussions. Meaningful progress toward statutory alignment—and toward addressing the broader systemic issues identified in the White Paper—requires participation from every stakeholder in the recovery ecosystem.
