A letter from the ARA President

Need to take your mind off the current pause in account assignments? Football season has begun from now until February of 2022 with televised football games every week. So, what is the plan? Hunker down, kick up your feet, still your worried mind and move forward the best you can.

I recently had a telephone call with a government agency that described our industry as a race to the bottom. Our discussion centered around what differs one forwarder from the other. The current mindset is pricing — the company that gets recovery professionals to operate at the cheapest rate wins their business. Now we can have a big discussion about this, but action is needed. We must become a unified industry. The best thing we can do is band together in hard times. Let’s make it happen at this year’s ARA Convention and North American Repossessors Summit. I understand this is the time of year when operations begin to pick up, yet you must be there. These two upcoming events are the action arenas of the year.

Over the past years, ARA has committed to offering our members expert business assistance, education, and strategies to better the industry. The work continues with our partnership with Privacy4Cars. In addition, we want to keep the ball rolling in the formation of State and Regional chapters. It might be tough to find individuals to lead these chapters in the current labor market, but I believe the possibilities are endless with the right strategies in place.

In ending, I want to remind everyone the future is coming, and it is up to us to decide what kind of future it will be. I rarely say “it is what it is” because I believe we have the power and ability to change it to “it is what we make it”. Let’s do this! Let us be the ones that create all the good we deserve.
