Las Vegas, NV – June 24, 2014 – Carlos Enrique Barron, the 43-year-old former teacher who opened fire on the crew of “Repo Games” on April 25, 2011, was found guilty of felony assault with use of a deadly weapon, carrying a concealed weapon and burglary in January.
Barron pleaded for mercy from District Judge James Bixler and appears to have been granted it.
Barron was sentenced to 5 years probation and 90 days in the Clark County Detention Center, which could be served on the weekends and did not require Barron to report immediately to jail.
Prosecutors claimed that on the night of April 25, 2011, Barron stepped outside his home and fired three shots, believing a crew from Spike TV’s “Repo Games” was trying to repossess his vehicle.
At trial, Barron told a jury that he was awoken by an alarm from his Toyota FJ Cruiser, before he walked outside armed with a 9mm Glock handgun. Barron claims that he fired only two shots into the air, which conflicted with other testimony.
No one was injured in the shooting.
