Knoxville Woman Indicted for Ramming Repo Man

legal_scalesKnoxville, TN – January 15, 2013 – Over 13 months after allegedly ramming a Repo Man with her car during her flee from a repossession attempt in December 2011, a Knoxville woman has been indicted on charges stemming from the incident.

Ebony Sharee Burton, 30 has been charged with aggravated assault of Repo Man Richard Collins of Powell for the incident stemming from the repossession attempt of her car at a McDonalds in Oak Ridge.

Collins reported to police that he had agreed to allow Burton to get some personal property out of her car when she instead started it and backed the car out of the parking space, almost hitting him.

Collins was the standing directly in front of the vehicle, and reported to Oak Ridge Police that he had “no time to move before Burton accelerated toward him.”

A court affidavit states that Collins states that the vehicle struck him, and he ended up on the hood of the vehicle until he was eventually thrown off of it and onto the ground after approximately 20 feet,” When police arrived, Collins complained of pain at the back of his head and on his right hand.

The affidavit claims that Collins was able to track the car to Knoxville, where the Knoxville Police Department found it, but Burton was not located until August 2012, court records show. Now free on bond, she is to be arraigned Jan. 28 in Anderson County Criminal Court.
