Detroit, MI – June 12, 2025 – Officers were on a routine patrol when they witnessed a woman opening fire on a repossession agent. When the smoke cleared, the woman was shot multiple times. Unfortunately, we’re just learning that this was the second shooting this repo company had experienced in the last two days.

It was just before 3pm on Thursday afternoon when officers were driving in the 10900 block of Nottingham in Detroit’s east side. By complete chance, they rolled into the scene of a woman with a handgun shooting at a repossession agent.Police Shoot Borrower Shooting at Repossession Agent

The repossession allegedly happened on the block over from the shooting, but the agent had driven the truck to Nottingham Street to secure it to the tow truck.

Detroit Police Chief Todd Bettison said that they believe the car owner tried to stop the repossession and had said something to the effect of “You’re stealing my car,” before firing multiple shots at the unnamed Repo Man.

Police returned fire on the woman, striking her multiple times in the arm and leg. Bettison reported that she suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

“I’m just happy to report that it could be a lot worse,” said Bettison. “I’m glad that our officers weren’t injured. I’m glad the repo man wasn’t injured, and of course, we’ll be submitting a warrant request to the Wayne County prosecutor in this case.”

Unfortunately, the agency, which out of respect for them as they process all this I will remain silent, has reported to CURepossession that this was the second shooting this week and that one of their agents was shot the day before. I have been unable to locate a media story on this and the person I spoke with was at the police station sorting this out when I called and was unable to elaborate at the time. Additional information will be reported when available.
