Chicago Ridge, IL – August 21, 2024 – An attempted repossession at a window tint shop ended in gunfire, armed robbery and a hostage taken.
On August 20th at 1:21am, Chicago Ridge Police responded to a report of shots fired at Signature Line Motorsports at 10005 S. Harlem Ave.. Upon arrival, officers discovered that the shots had been fired at a repossessor attempting a recovery who had already fled the scene unharmed.
The alleged shooter, 26-year-old Mahyoub Dawabsha of Orland park, had reportedly after the shooting, then took another person at the scene into the shop at gunpoint where he proceeded to attempt to rob it.
Police from both Bridgeview and Chicago Ridge were eventually able to get inside the business and take Dawabsha into custody. The victim who was held at gunpoint was rescued unharmed.
Upon searching the business, police found the loaded gun.
Dawabsha was charged with felony aggravated kidnapping, armed robbery, two counts of aggravated discharge of a firearm, aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, and three counts of aggravated assault, police said.
