Detroit, MI – February 13, 2024 – Frantic to stop his car from repossession, a homeless Detroit man reportedly pepper sprayed a repo agent, stole his smart phone and fled the scene.
Back on January 31st, an unnamed repossessor was attempting to repossess a car on the 1300 block of 58th Street North when he encountered its homeless borrower. Armed with pepper spray, the man, later identified as Dakota J. Powell, ais reported to have assaulted the agent with pepper spray.
In the chaos, Powell then is reported to have gained access to the agent’s truck and stole some of his personal possessions, including the agent’s cell phone.
In his efforts to get his property back, the agent is reported to have dropped the car from his tow truck. Retaking possession of his car, Powell then allegedly fled the scene and tossed the agents phone from the car causing it to shatter on impact.
Unfortunately for Powell, his escape was sort lived and police soon apprehended him. Upon searching him, police report to have found him in possession of methamphetamine.
Powell now faces a slew of charges that include; robbery, possession of methamphetamine, criminal trespass to real property, and resisting arrest. Powell is in custody and held on $20,000 bail.
