Repossessor Shot in Ohio

“It’s bleeding a lot and my arm is numb,” the victim said.

Dayton, OH – July 19, 2023 – It’s been a violent month. Four agents shot in three weeks, and one killed. Unfortunately, we have to add another repossession agent to that number.

At 8:45am on McGee Street, a recovery agent was in the process of securing a repossessed vehicle and had it firmly in his possession when things quickly escalated.

Dayton police Sgt. Michael Beane stated that; “The worker already had the car hooked up when a person who lives in the house and is related to the owner came out of the home and fired shots at the repossession agent.”

A neighboring woman called 911 reporting that shots had been fired outside of her house and the window in her front door was shattered. The woman reported that she was in the back of the house at the time and didn’t witness the shooting, but thought someone could be injured, she said according to dispatch records.

“The people down the street were reacting like there was a big problem,” she also said.

Another 911 caller was more incriminating and reported that his mother’s vehicle was stolen. The caller also said his mother was driving after it in a different vehicle, according to dispatch records.

The unnamed repossession agent was struck in the arm. Fleeing for his life, he called of all people, a car lot.

“I think we need an ambulance here. I’m calling you from a car lot,” said a 911 caller. “A repo company was giving me a car and he called me and said I’m coming to your lot and I got shot. Call the ambulance for me.”

911 call records revealed a repossession agent was shot and the caller provided a phone number for the agent to dispatch, who then called the victim.

“I just repo’d a car and he shot me,” said the victim. “It’s bleeding a lot and my arm is numb,” the victim said.

911 and drove to North Dixie Drive where police and medics took control. The agent was transported to Kettering Health Dayton, formerly Grandview Hospital, according to Montgomery County Regional Dispatch. The agent is reported to be suffering non-life-threatening injuries.

An unnamed suspect has been taken into custody. No charges have been filed as of this date.
