Add ramming a repossessor twice with an SUV to the charges

Was already pending trial for charges of burglary and other weapons and assault charges

Fort Wayne, IN – May 10, 2022 – It was about 2am on Tuesday morning when a pair of unnamed repossession agents arrived at the Fort Wayne Estates Trailer Park where the sign reads “Your Place to Call Home.” Backing their tow truck up to the Pontiac Torrent, they were greeted by a surprise; 29-year-old Jeffrey Harris, sleeping in the SUV’s driver’s seat as he prepared for his morning court date on a slew of burglary, assault and weapons charges.

On que, he did the predictable, he fled and rammed one of the unfortunate recovery agents in the midsection with the SUV before striking a 2006 Chevrolet Silverado as he drove deeper into the trailer park.

Having driven the perimeter of the trailer park, Harris proceeded to hit the same agent with the SUV again. This time in the hip.

New Haven Police soon arrived only to find Harris still driving the Pontiac with one headlight through the trailer park and almost hitting another vehicle before they managed to get him to stop.

Court documents state that as Harris exited the vehicle, a smoky haze rolled out and officers could smell the odor of marijuana. Harris was arrested and taken into custody on the charge of leaving the scene of an accident added to the felony battery charge for hitting the agent.

Once at the Allen County Jail, police found a baggie containing 14 grams of marijuana in Harris’ pocket, adding misdemeanor counts of possession of marijuana to his already bad morning.

It should come of little surprise that later that same morning, Harris was supposed to stand trial on charges of burglary with a deadly weapon, burglary causing serious bodily injury, criminal recklessness where a defendant shoots a firearm into a building and domestic battery by means of a deadly weapon.

According to court documents in that case, he is accused of breaking into a woman’s home, firing numerous gunshots inside and beating her.

The trial was rescheduled so that authorities could sort out his latest arrest.
