Repo Dispute, Crash Lead to Charges for Fleeing Borrower

Silver Creek – NY – 10 November 2020 – A village resident has been charged in connection with an early morning incident last week that led to a car crash while trying to prevent a repossession of the vehicle.

Chautauqua County sheriff’s deputies report that around 2 a.m. Nov. 4, they responded to a call for a disorderly person in Silver Creek. It was reported that an unknown male had attempted to prevent the execution of an active repossession order on his vehicle and that the subject had caused a motor vehicle accident in the process then fled the scene.

Deputies were able to locate the vehicle in the area shortly after. A traffic stop was conducted and the male operator was identified as 57-year-old Brian J. Evancho. Evancho was charged with second-degree criminal mischief, resisting arrest, two counts of reckless endangerment, third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, two counts of leaving the scene of a property damage accident, reckless driving, unregistered motor Vehicle, and operating without insurance.

Evancho will answer to the Town of Hanover Court for these charges.
