Memphis, TN – 28 July 2020 – A 38 year-old Memphis man has been charged with reckless endangerment with a deadly weapon after allegedly firing a handgun into the air during and attempt to repossess a vehicle from his residence.
Officers responded to a call about shots fired at a residence on the 600 block of Baltic Street on July 17th. On arrival, officers spoke to Recovery Agent, Gary Parrish who reported that he and another recovery employee had arrived at the property to repossess a vehicle, when Leroy Macon emerged from his home with a handgun and allegedly fired several shots into the air. The second employee fled with the repossessed vehicle while Parris stayed behind to contact the police.
Upon identifying Leroy Macon as the one who fired shots, police moved in to make an arrest. While in detention Macon admitted to firing six shots into the air to “scare the driver away” and told officers where the weapon was located. Officers recovered a 9mm Taurus from behind a dryer in a shed behind the house.
Macon was arrested and has been charged with reckless endangerment with a deadly weapon. His bond was set at $25,000.
