Father of Two Killed During Tire Repossession Attempt

Monday’s vigil for Andrew Gomez

San Antonio, TX – 23 June 2020 – A San Antonio family is asking for your help after a 27-year old father of two was gunned down over the weekend attempting a tire repossession.

On Monday night, family and friends of Andrew Gomez, 27 held a vigil to celebrate his life after he murdered attempting to repossess a set of tires.

The shooting took place on Saturday, June 20 at a home in East Bexar County. Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar reported that the victim, Gomez, arrived at the suspect, 26- year old Richard Alexander Vallejo’s home to repossess a set of tires. According to the sheriffs department, an argument ensued and the suspect shot Gomez several times.

According to reports, Vallejo called 911 and reported that he shot Gomez because he feared for his life. Deputies that arrived on scene found Gomez with multiple gunshot wounds.

Gomez was rushed to the hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

Sheriff Salazar reported that surveillance video during the investigation, nor evidence obtained from witnesses corroborated Vallejo’s claim of self-defense.

Vallejo was then arrested and booked for First Degree Felony Murder. His bond set at $125,000.

It is unknown if Gomez was working for a company or who the lender was.

The murder investigation is ongoing.

Gomez left behind a wife, a 7-year-old son and a 4-year-old daughter.

A drive-thru plate sale fundraiser is being held 12:30-3:30 p.m. Sunday at Somerset Multi-Purpose Center on K Street.
