“I’m going to drive away with the car even if I have to run you over.”
Newton, IA – 23 January 2019 – An Iowa woman was placed behind bars following a terse and threatening exchange with repossession agents that led to her striking one with her vehicle as she fled the scene.
Tanneeah R. Fleming, 39, of Newton, was charged with assault while displaying a dangerous weapon following her alleged threats to run over repossession agents in an attempt to avoid her vehicle’s repossession on January 3rd at 5:34PM.
According to Newton police, officers were dispatched to the 800 block of South 13th Avenue East for an assault complaint where officers met with the reported victim and his coworker.
The coworker advised officers that he was a Repo Man attempting to repossess a 2007 GMC Acadia from Fleming. According to the agent, when they made contact with Fleming at her apartment, she allegedly responded by saying, “I’m going to drive away with the car even if I have to run you over.”
She then allegedly proceeded to push the Repo Man out of the way and climbed into the driver’s seat of her vehicle, putting it into reverse and striking the Repo Man’s vehicle with the back of her vehicle.
Fleming then reportedly put her vehicle into drive and drove over the curb, striking the victim with the front driver’s side of her vehicle and again with a rear-view mirror, before fleeing the scene.
Fleming was eventually arrested Thursday, but then released.
