Truck Cam Video Leads to Arrest of Borrower with Gun

Festus, MO – 5 December 2018 –Video footage filmed from the cab of a repo truck has led to the arrest of a 62-year-old Festus man for allegedly pulling out a gun in front of a man who works for a company that repossesses vehicles and was attempting to tow away the suspect’s Jeep, Chief Tim Lewis said.

The incident was reported to police at 12:23 p.m. Nov. 19 and happened in the 900 block of North Fifth Street, Lewis said.

“An employee of Image Recovery Service was repossessing a 2006 Jeep when the owner of the Jeep allegedly (pulled out) a gun,” Lewis said. “The victim, a 42-year-old man (from Troy), said he was hooking up the Jeep to tow it when the suspect started cussing at him and (pulled out) a black gun. (The victim) ran off and called police.”

Police arrived at the suspect’s home and took him into custody without incident. He was released pending application for warrants, Lewis said.

He said Nov. 27 that the gun had not yet been recovered, but “the video from the tow truck shows (the suspect) holding a gun.”
