Repo Company Owner Charged with Stalking

Madison, WI – 8 November 2016 – The owner of a Madison repossession business faces several charges including stalking and bail jumping for violating a restraining order, according to a criminal complaint.

Michael Jahn, 50, of Monona, pleaded not guilty to multiple misdemeanor charges, including two counts of knowingly violating a domestic abuse temporary restraining order and two counts of misdemeanor bail jumping, after allegedly leaving multiple messages for a woman who had a restraining order against him. He also faces a felony count of stalking, online court records show.

According to police, a woman contacted them on October 26 saying that Jahn left her numerous voicemail messages and emails, despite her filing a restraining order against him earlier in the week. In one of the voicemail messages, Jahn allegedly said he knew he was not supposed to be contacting the woman, the complaint said.

Police contacted Jahn, who said he was aware of the restraining order, the complaint said.

According to the complaint, the woman told police the following day that Jahn had continued to call her after being arrested and posting bail. The woman told police she had barely slept for a week because she was scared, the complaint said.

Police then arrested Jahn for violating the restraining order again, the complaint said.

Online court records show Jahn posted bond on November 2. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 9 a.m. November 10.
