To many it feels like one of the longest years EVER and with a contentious election looming, a pandemic still stirring, West Coast fires burning and active tropics and hurricane season churning – it almost feels like it will never end. While most cannot wait for 2020 to end, are we scared to be cautiously optimistic about 2021?
One thing that has not changed in 2020 is the need for the Recovery Agents Benefit Fund. So far in 2020 we have already surpassed every recorded year of distributions since we began in 2012. We have already disbursed over $90,000 in 2020 and have had practically no opportunities to fundraise with the pandemic cancelling most industry events and everyone tightening their wallets due to the financial impacts of the pandemic on businesses and families.
Corey Cox and Bryanna Cox remain strong in their support for the RABF and encourage others to donate through their Facebook Fundraisers on their birthdays. Final Notice Recovery in Maryland lost an employee in Nov 2018 – and shortly after established monthly donations in honor of their fallen employee.
Knowing events are being cancelled, just this week Credit Acceptance Corporation reached out and made their annual donation, usually presented at the co hosted RSIG and Allied Finance Adjusters meeting, with the following note:
Hey Dana,
Every year we at Credit Acceptance have a fundraiser to raise funds for the RABF. This year we had a pretzel sale. Unfortunately due to COVID our plans [were] cut short. However from what we were able to sell, we raised $1,950 for the fund. Our company submitted this donation via the website since we are unable to deliver it in person. Wanted to let you know! Thanks!!!

We are thankful and appreciative that even though the in person delivery was not an option, that CAC kept supporting the RABF in their hearts and minds.
For the past several years, PK Willis/American Recovery Services in El Dorado Hills, CA has donated $500 monthly to the Recovery Agents Benefit Fund, usually with a substantial in person donation at the RSIG and Allied Finance Adjusters meeting in June that was cancelled this year due to COVID. The monthly donation is a recurring donation and they have yet to miss a month. Even during the earlier days of the pandemic when repossession activity slowed to a halt, (which surely impacted their business as it did so many repossession companies) American Recovery Services kept to their promise and have remained the only forwarder in the industry to donate to the fund on a monthly basis.
The RABF has received generous support in the past from Primeritus and PAR North America through raffle ticket sales at their annual agents events, but with those being cancelled this year, those donations are not guaranteed.
Most recently the industry and a Texas repossession company in Azle, Texas lost a son and father repossession team due to a horrific hit and run rear-end accident. The RABF stepped up to help the surviving wife and children and upon hearing the news DRN (Digital Recognition Network) reached out to us and donated $15,000 to this family through the RABF.
We want to extend our heartfelt thanks to individually to Andy Cameron DRN SVP and Jeremiah Wheeler DRN EVP and GM, the entire DRN corporate team and employees and their parent company Motorola Solutions for this incredible donation and show of support.
