Repossession Requirements to Conduct Business in Texas

To be a repossessor in Texas you must meet the following state requirements

 1. Maintain a valid TDLR searchable by using this link,

2. As a repossessor you are required to collect and pay sales tax on each service you offer.

3. If you are an out of state agent conducting business in Texas, you must be registered with the state of Texas as a Foreign Entity in order to conduct business in Texas. Requirements for Foreign Entity’s can be found here.

 As a foreign entity, you must also pay state sales tax for any business you conduct in Texas.
