Woman’s Armed Standoff During Repossession Leads to Arrest

Gainesville, FL – December 15, 2025 – It was a peaceful Sunday afternoon when the repossession agents lifted the car. That is, until the borrower came out. Jumping into the car, she drew a handgun and everything derailed and took a hard left into Crazytown.

Last Sunday, Gainesville Police officers were dispatched to the 1000 block of Southwest 16th Avenue shortly after 1:45pm following reports of an armed individual causing a disturbance. Upon arrival, they discovered 30-year-old Lacey Brown inside her car, which had been fully lifted off the ground and secured onto a tow truck as a repossession.

According to police reports, the repossession was being conducted legally when Brown suddenly climbed into the elevated vehicle. Once inside, she allegedly retrieved a handgun from inside it and began waving it threateningly toward the repo agents and others at the scene.

The situation rapidly intensified as officers commanded Brown to exit the vehicle and surrender. She reportedly refused to comply, becoming increasingly aggressive and confrontational while keeping one hand concealed.Woman’s Armed Standoff During Repossession Leads to Arrest

As one officer approached to extract her and began holstering his firearm for safety, Brown allegedly delivered a powerful kick to his hand, slamming it against the car door and causing him to drop his weapon.

Officers ultimately removed Brown from the suspended car and placed her under arrest without further incident. She was transported to the Alachua County Jail, where she is being held without bond. She faces several charges including battery on a law enforcement officer and two counts of aggravated assault.
