TX Man Faces Possible 20 Year Sentence for Pointing Gun at Repo Man

Round Rock, TX – 7 December 2017 – Police in Round Rock arrested an Austin man amid accusations he pulled a gun on someone who legally repossessed his car, according to a published report.

Round Rock police originally charged James Bebber, 23, with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in August, but it wasn’t until Nov. 26 that he was arrested, according to newly released affidavit referenced in an Austin American-Statesman report.

The incident dates to Aug. 21, when police were alerted about an assault at 10:39 p.m., according to the affidavit. The victim told police of Bebber having approached him angrily after his 2010 Scion TC was repossessed. After an exchange of words, Bebber is said to have followed the victim from Austin

to the intersection of Louis Henna and Greenlawn boulevards in Round Rock, according to the report.

That’s when Bebber got out of another vehicle “while assuming a shooting stance” and aimed a gun at the victim, the affidavit reads. The Austin man demanded the return of his vehicle while pointing the firearm, according to the report.

Bebber subsequently was arrested for the aggravated assault with a deadly weapon charge, a second-degree felony punishable by up to 20 years’ imprisonment.
