Texas ARP Hosts Successful Annual Members Meeting in Austin
Austin, TX – On Friday, March 28, the Texas Association of Repossession Professionals (Texas ARP) held its Annual Members Meeting at the Hilton-Austin Downtown, bringing together industry professionals, and experts for a day of valuable insights, discussions, and networking.
TexasARP’s Austin meeting wasn’t just about surviving, it was about thriving. Open to members and non-members alike, this event offered networking opportunities, expert-led Q&A sessions, and provided everyone with the opportunity to help shape the future of repossession in Texas.
This dynamic gathering was designed at arming Texas agency owners, agents, and industry stakeholders with the tools and knowledge necessary to conquer the complex Texas regulatory repossession landscape while safeguarding their businesses and agents from legal and financial pitfalls.
The event was made possible with the generous support of sponsors, including DRN/MVTrac/SCM as the headline sponsor, MBSI providing lanyards, and Harding brooks sponsoring lunch and snacks for attendees.
Expert Speakers and Industry Insights
Attendees had the opportunity to hear from distinguished industry leaders, covering critical topics affecting the profession:
- Andy Cameron, Executive Vice President of DRN and MVTrac, and Ryan Medina, VP of Vendor Management for MVTrac and SCM, discussed ongoing industry changes and reaffirmed their support for Texas ARP.
- Gordon Martens of Martens Law provided valuable insights on Texas Sales Tax and Use, helping members navigate compliance and regulations.
- Donny Seyfer from NASTF addressed the group with key updates on their technological advancements.
- Billie Jo Stoddard, CEO of Royal Key Supply, introduced attendees to their universal key generator, highlighting its benefits and applications.
- Mike Peplinski and John Pollard of Harding Brooks led an informative discussion on Employment Practices Liability Insurance (EPLI) and the key differences between W-2 and 1099 employees.
Representatives from Primeritus and Location Services were also in attendance, contributing to the discussion and networking opportunities.
Board Elections and Leadership Updates
The current board members were re-elected for another term, ensuring stability and continued leadership within Texas ARP. Additionally, James Waldron was nominated and elected as Legislative Chair, taking on a key role in advocating for the industry’s interests.

Advanced Recovery of Texas
Texas Accredited Repossession Professionals (TexasARP)
TexasARP is an organization comprised of collateral recovery agency owners/employees in Texas and nationwide. Our goal is to educate our members, financial institutions and law enforcement with regard to business requirements and ordinances set forth by the cities and counties in the state of Texas. The purpose of the association is to strengthen understanding between recovery agency owners, law enforcement, financial institutions, regulatory agencies and the consumer. TexasARP will provide continuing education to our members, financial institutions and law enforcement officials. Education platforms will focus in the fields of professionalism, business principles, public relations and innovations in the industry.
Many of our goals include:
- TexasARP Acknowledgment by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR).
- Having a TexasARP representative on the TDLR board.
- Assisting the TDLR to develop a license category specifically for repossession agency business owners.
- Educating law enforcement throughout the state on the current laws regarding repossessions.
- Educating our clients of the requirements in the state of Texas to conduct business as a repossession agency.
- Educate Texas recovery agencies on the TDLR- License, Finance Code – Sales Tax and Franchise Tax Reports.
- To be a one stop shop for the clients to validate our members accreditations.
- Implementing legislation to balance all the laws and policies in each of the counties in Texas to be universal statewide.
