
Spokane County, WA – 12 February 2020 – Charges have been filed against 51-year-old Robert Edens in connection with Tuesday night’s shooting at a pair of repossession agents in rural West Spokane County.
The victims had reported that on Tuesday night at approximately 9pm, during their attempted repossession of a car at a rural residence located on the 209000 block of W. Indiana Lane, when they were approached by another man who said they person they were asking for was not there.
After returning to their tow truck, they heard gunshots and the rear passenger side window shattered.
The tow driver frantically accelerated to escape the gunfire but lost control of his truck and went into a ditch, continuing to drive until deputies made contact with them further down the road.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, the suspects then began to approach in a truck, firing at the victims.
Responding Deputies then followed the truck, conducting a high-risk traffic stop and arresting fifty-one-year-old Robert Edens and his passenger, who were detained without incident.
Edens stated to deputies that he had fired shots into the air to protect his property and claimed that he had never fired shots at the agents. Deadly force cannot be used to protect property in the state of Washington.
Eden’s passenger was released without charges while Eden was booked into the Spokane County Jail for two counts of first-degree assault.
