Where the repossession industry gets its news

Retraction: A Civil War Within the Repossession Industry

On August 28th, I published an anonymous guest editorial titled A Civil War Within the Repossession Industry. Within it’s contents were direct inferences of an agency owner and their company. I missed it. That’s on me.

As a hard rule, I do not publish anonymous editorials or articles where one party is allowed to hide while the other is the topic of conversation. It is unfair and does nothing to better the industry. Rock throwing will happen, but when it does, it must be open, honest and without hiding one’s identity.

Mia culpa. I unintentionally allowed this to happen.

As some back story to my error, I was conversing with the writer and another individual on the issue of the MBSi Scorecarding article published on CUCollector back on August 13th.

The writer was lamenting on the disparity of scorecard results based on business models when the article was presented. I became focused on the naming of LPR companies and missed the references to another company whose name I believed was being used figuratively. In addition, I missed references to an agency owners lifestyle and other sources of income, the latter of which I was unaware.

I have met this owner in person and have had great conversations with him and I like him very much. He is a man who looks at the industry with fresh ideas and an open heart. I never would have published the editorial had I been more aware. The fault is mine and I humbly apologize to him and all of the persons who felt directly and negatively impacted by this.

As a result, I have retracted this article from CURepossession and all correlated social media posts of it.

My Apologies.
