Cedar County, MO – July 13, 2025 – A Saturday repossession attempt almost turned deadly when the borrower tried to rundown the repossession agent. Fleeing the scene, the borrower led police on a high-speed chase barreling headlong into oncoming traffic before the rampage came to an end.
An unnamed repossession agent notified police of a borrower who had just attempted to run him down south of El Dorado Springs when a Cedar County Deputy, traveling north on Highway 97 just south of Highway 32, spotted both the suspect vehicle and the tow truck heading in the opposite direction.
Turning around and initiating pursuit, the deputy lost sight of the suspect vehicle near Highway 97 and CC Highway which prompted additional Cedar County deputies to be dispatched to the area.
In addition, the Stockton Police Department was alerted and Stockton Police Officer Marshall soon located the suspect vehicle entering Stockton where he attempted a traffic stop. The borrower refused to stop, and a second pursuit began.
The borrower then fled from Highway 32 to Highway 39, then northbound to Highway N, where they reached speeds of up to 99 MPH, passing on the wrong side of the road, and running other vehicles off the roadway.

After some distance, the pursuit continued into Polk County, through Humansville, where the suspect ultimately pulled into TZ Automotive. The driver/borrower, identified as Lonnia Sue Baker, was then taken into custody without further incident and transported to the Cedar County Jail, where she awaited formal charges.
On the following day, the Honorable Judge Jacob Dawson issued a warrant for Baker charging her with felony resisting arrest by fleeing, 2nd degree assault and careless and imprudent driving (reckless driving). Baker’s bail was set at a cash only $75,000 bail.
There were no mention of injuries to the repossession agent despite the 2nd degree assault charge.
