Oconee County, SC – October 24, 2025 – It’s yet another one of these annual repossession occurrences like someone repossessing a car with a baby in the back. But this isn’t by error, it’s just weak and there’s nothing accidental about it.

On Thursday the 23rd the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call on Bella Vista Lane where they were investigating reports of a man claiming to be a law enforcement agent to a person and threatened that two other units were on their way and that he was going to take an unnamed man and woman to jail for a stolen tag, according to an arrest warrant said.

Upon arrival, officers were met by 42-year-old Jason Dewayne Whitlock in a white Ford Explorer with bars on the inside, a pit bar on the front, a spotlight on the driver’s side and a large black dog inside, according to deputies.

Whitlock allegedly told the officers that he was repossessing a vehicle. Deputies advised him that the standard procedure of informing dispatch first with an address, but that did not occur.

Deputies reported in their investigation that Whitlock had a suspended driver’s license.

Whitlock was placed under arrest and charged with impersonating a law enforcement officer and driving under suspension. He later posted a $3,147 surety bond and was released from jail, deputies said.
