New Kent County, VA – December 17, 2024 – It started with an afternoon repossession attempt. It went bad. Two injured cops and a four-hour standoff later, it didn’t end well for the borrower.

It was about 3:PM on Tuesday when the Deputies responded to a call for help from a repossession agent who was allegedly assaulted after attempting to repossess a vehicle.

The repossessor claimed the borrower had threatened to blow him up and had allegedly thrown a cinder block, a propane tank, and motorcycle at him. (Yes, I said motorcycle.) When deputies arrived, the borrower, identified as 62-year-old Earl Marvin Taylor, allegedly became combative.

It is reported that deputies deployed a taser because Taylor was allegedly trying to pull away while they were attempting to put him into cuffs. Deputies claim Taylor broke away and ran into the house and slammed the door onto a deputy’s foot.

The situation quickly escalated and New Kent’s Crisis Negotiation Team along with other law enforcement entities were deployed to the scene. Attempts to de-escalate the situation were unsuccessful over several hours, resulting in law enforcement obtaining a search warrant to arrest Taylor.

By 7 PM, Taylor was taken into custody without further incident and taken to the Pamunkey Regional Jail where he is being held without bond.
