Phony Repo Man Busted!

Jonathan Jason StankowitzBeaufort County, SC – December 14, 2012 – A 37 year old man faces time in prison and a fine for charges of felony obtaining goods under false pretenses and failure to obtain a business license.

According to the Port Royal Police Department, Jonathan Jason Stankowitz had been telling workers at Title Max on 1330 Ribaut Road that he worked for Professional Auto Recovery since June and had collected about $7,400 from Title Max over six months by using a Professional Auto Recovery employee’s name.

Stankowitz was fired by Professional Auto Recovery in June according to police.

Stankowitz was charged with felony obtaining goods under false pretenses and failure to obtain a business license in Port Royal. The last charge could result in both a fine and as many as five years in prison.

Stankowitz posted a $10,000 bond and was released Thursday from the Beaufort County Detention Center.
