Mahwah, NJ – April 10, 2012 – Disputing that her lender had ordered her car repossessed, a kind hearted Repo Man let 25 year old Nicole Diantonio borrow his phone to talk to them from inside the car he was attempting to repossess. After the conversation, the Repo Man attempted to retrieve his phone when Diantonio allegedly attempted to flee the scene with the hapless man clinging to the car heading southbound on Route 17.
Police began their search for Diantonio, after the repossessor called 911 Monday around 4:15 p.m. according to Police Chief James Batelli,
According to police, the altercation happened in the parking lot of the Sheraton Mahwah Hotel.
Mahwah Police Officer Michael Direnzo responded to the scene, and found the victim with leg injuries, and two witnesses who reported seeing him on top of the hood of Diantonio’s car, Batelli said. The tow truck driver was taken to Hackensack University Medical Center for leg injuries and further examination, police said.
Mahwah Police located Diantonio driving on Route 17 South. Chief Batelli said Police found heroin and drug paraphernalia in her car.
“It was also determined that there was an active warrant for Diantonio out of Nutley, New Jersey,” he said.
The investigation into the alleged hit-and-run is ongoing, and additional charges may be filed after it is completed, according to Batelli.
Diantonio is scheduled for her first appearance in Mahwah municipal court on April 10.
