New York, NY – 19 February 2018 – A federal agent allegedly pulled a gun on a man whose car was being repossessed by the agent’s cousin in The Bronx, then had the victim arrested on bogus charges, a high-ranking police source said Sunday.
U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) agent Omar Castro was accompanying his repo-man cousin to collect a car late Saturday when the owner, Christopher Jackson, tried to stop them, law enforcement sources said.
Castro, 41, blocked Jackson’s car in with his own vehicle in the Foxhurst section, and they began arguing heatedly at around 9:30 p.m. Saturday, cops said.
Castro, who was off duty, then allegedly pulled out his service weapon and trained it on Jackson, 23, the source told The Post.
He then ordered Jackson to stay in his vehicle, saying that if he disobeyed, he would be shot, Jackson told cops.
Yet after Jackson called the police, the agent, identifying himself, claimed to responding officers that the man had tried to run him over during the spat.
Jackson was arrested by cops on charges of reckless endangerment.
Castro, who lives in The Bronx, and his unidentified cousin followed the arresting officers to a nearby police station house to fill out paperwork.
It was at there that Castro made the mistake of calling his supervisor to report the incident.
Over the phone, the superior informed the desk officer that Castro wasn’t allowed to use his gun while off duty, according to the police source.
The agent was immediately arrested in the station house at around 3 a.m. Sunday, cops said.
Castro later admitted that Jackson never tried to run him over, according to another source.
The USCIS agent was arraigned at Bronx Criminal Court on charges of criminal possession of a weapon and menacing. He was released on his own recognizance.
Jackson was released, and his arrest was voided.
