Repo Agent Dragged and Killed in Freak Accident

Struck and dragged 30-feet by his own tow truck

Ocala, FL – May 3, 2022 – Details are thin at this point, but Florida Highway Patrol troopers report that an unnamed 38-year-old recovery agent was struck by the vehicle he’d just repossessed. His tow truck, reportedly not in park, dragged him almost 30-feet. All while his 9-year-old step son was in the cab of the truck.

The freak accident occurred at about 3:30 pm on Southeast Second Street by Southeast 54th Court. It was there and then that the unnamed agent left his truck for reasons yet known but assumed that he had detected something having gone wrong with the Ford F-350 pickup that he just repossessed.

Troopers report that the agent left the cab of his truck and went to the recovered truck where he climbed underneath it.

His tow truck was reportedly not in park. It then rolled forward striking the man with the towed vehicle and proceeded to drag him almost 30-feet.

A witness called 911 and medical personnel soon arrived. Unfortunately, the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

In the cab of the truck was the victim’s 9-year-old stepson. He was unharmed, but obviously distraught.

Florida Highway Patrol no longer releases the names of people involved in traffic fatalities. The investigation is ongoing.
