FL Cop and Attorney Wife Arrested for Stealing Repo from Lot

Fort Pierce, FL – 1 October 2019 – A Riviera Beach police officer was arrested last week after it was found that he and his wife stole their repossessed vehicle back from repo company.

Officer Marvin Williams was arrested in Fort Pierce on Sept. 25, according to Interim Chief of Police Spencer Rozier. He also said the department was “made aware of circumstances that led to the arrest of city Police Officer Marvin Williams.”

“Consistent with department policy, Williams was relieved of all law enforcement duties effective September 26, 2019,” Rozier said. “He is on Paid Administrative Leave pending the outcome of Criminal Proceedings and an Internal Affairs Investigation.”

On Sept. 25, deputies responded to ATR Recovery and Towing around 1:30 a.m., according to the St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office. The manager told deputies that he completed a repossession order of a blue 2008 Mercury Milan, which was registered to Attorney Gloria Floyd-Williams, wife of Marvin Williams.

The manager said Floyd-Williams came into the business at 11:30 a.m the day before asking for her car to be released to her, the sheriff’s office said. He told Floyd-Williams that he didn’t complete the proper processing required by law to release the car at that time.

The manager then said around 11:47 a.m., Floyd-Williams illegally entered the gated lot, walked back to the Mercury Milan, got inside and drove the car through the compound, according to the sheriff’s office. Before she got to the closed gate, she hit a Volkswagen Atlas SUV, causing damage to both cars.

Officer Williams then opened the gate for his wife, allowing her to drive through, the sheriff’s office said. He then closed the gate behind him before fleeing. Deputies also watched surveillance footage of the incident.

The manager told deputies Floyd-Williams didn’t have the authority to enter the fenced compound, according to the sheriff’s office. She also didn’t sign the proper paperwork or pay any fees for the car.

When deputies spoke with Floyd-Williams, she told them that she had her vehicle release from the bank and the manager refused to release her car, the sheriff’s office said. She said the gate to the compound was open, so she walked in and took her car. She also said she called 911 before she took the car.

The couple is being charged with grand theft auto and burglary.
