Repo Push and Shove Turns into $15K in Damages
Ringtown Borough, PA – January 21, 2026 – A laundry list of criminal charges have been filed following a borrower’s pushing and shoving on a repossession agent. As if not bad enough, he caused over $15,000 in damages to the tow truck before hitting a passing vehicle in his repo runaway.
Pennsylvania State Troopers were dispatched to 107 Vine Street after a repossession agent with A-1 Towing and Recovery reported damage to a tow truck following an altercation with an allegedly combative borrower, 65-year-old Robert M. Lawson of Ringtown.
Their report alleges that during the course of repossessing a 2018 Chevrolet Silverado, which was already lifted in the air it’s borrower, Lawson, exited the residence and confronted the agent. During the interaction, it is reported that he allegedly shoved the agent while he was still in process of utilizing the tow truck wheel lift controls.
An unnamed female was also reported to have been on scene and moved a silver Dodge SUV that was parked in front of the vehicle being repossessed. Following her moving of the SUV, police allege that Lawson entered the Silverado and drove it off the tow truck’s wheel lift while it was still elevated, damaging the lifting forks on the tow truck.
It is reported that the repo agent was standing next to the driver’s side of the tow truck at the time of the incident. Added further damages to the runaway attempt, the Silverado reportedly also struck another passing motorist as it fled the scene.
Both Lawson and the unnamed female then left the area in separate vehicles.
State Police later obtained and reviewed two videos provided by A-1 Towing and Recovery. According to officers, one video appears to show Lawson shoving the tow truck operator and yet another video reportedly shows the Silverado being placed in gear and driven off the tow truck while elevated, striking the lifting equipment.
An estimate of damages to the tow truck submitted by A-1 Towing and Recovery exceeds $15,000, not including tax.
Police records revealed Lawson’s driver’s license was suspended at the time of the incident. Also noted was prior law enforcement interactions involving Lawson at the Vine Street address.
Following the investigation, through the office of Magisterial District Judge Edward Tarantelli in Frackville Lawson was charged with:
- Felony 3 – Criminal Mischief (Damage to Property)
- Misdemeanor – Recklessly Endangering Another Person
- Harassment (Subject Other to Physical Contact)
- Disorderly Conduct (Hazardous/Physically Offensive Condition)
- Driving While Operating Privilege Suspended or Revoked
- Reckless Driving
Note: The charges were filed on January 20th, 2026, but the actual incident occurred on October 27, 2025. There is no mention of an earlier or current arrest or explanation for why it took almost three months to file charges.
