CURepossession

Where the repossession industry gets its news

An End of Summer Letter from the ARA President

Welcome to the lazy end-of-summer days. To say the least, this has been an interesting season. But there are more events to prepare for.

The first thing is the meeting sponsored by Harding Brooks and the state associations in Las Vegas. This meeting will highlight the work of all the state associations, discuss plans to work together and provide open and honest communication about the work of the Repo Alliance. Join Harding Brooks as they share the benefits of footprint, the future work needed in the insurance industry, and the benefits the company offers. Let’s have fun. Please reach out to Mike Peplinski for more details.

Next in line are the ARA convention and NARS. I know this year has been one of the toughest years we have seen in at least a decade. Yet, at this time, we need you to be engaged in the future. Together we can put our frustrations behind us and show up to have our voices heard. Here is your chance to ask the hard questions, push your ideas, and support the changes needed to remain viable and profitable in our industry. The lineup of education is tremendous. The keynote speaker, Dr. Michelle Rozen, will give YOU the tips you need to help your business function at a high level.

I just attended the NAF Convention and want to thank Emily Massey for manning the booth with me. We had great conversations about the industry, and ARA helping me to be sure, as your President, I am prepared to help everyone turn the corner.

Many states are passing new aspects to their Consumer Privacy and Data Protection Laws, which affect our industry. Our new partnership with Privacy4Cars puts us in front of the legislative moves to come. Over the past month, we heard at least four people tell us to be ready to engage this in their compliance plans. We also heard attorneys tell us they predict a substantial rise in bankruptcies due to many government assistance programs ending. So within the next 90 days, look for those to start to pump some repo’s into our businesses.

Depending on Congress decisions, I believe – we will start to see a gradual increase in business by the end of this year or the first quarter of 2022, as reporting leniency and consumer protections erode. We may even be able to find employees.

God Bless, See you at the ARA Convention and 2021 NARS.
