It was a beautiful day in Houston Texas with a clear blue sky, temperature in the low 80s with a mild southerly breeze. I had my windows down and was earnestly looking for the agency lot. It had always been easy to spot with its security gate, cameras and a lot full of automobiles, trucks and “Yellow Iron”, bulldozers, skid steers and front-end loaders.

The members of Eagle Group XX met at the DFW Hyatt Regency for their 9th “Fall Gathering of the Eagles” conference on Saturday, October 13, 2018 and as usual there was an excellent turn out of 23 attendees from across the United States.

The conference kicked of with a buffet breakfast and then the members settled down for a full day of discussion of industry issues, hearing from guest speakers and attending two new continuing education programs.An Eagle Flies Over the Horizon - Editorial

A review of Eagle Group XX activities in 2018 revealed that members had attended 9 Credit Union functions, 2 automobile financing conferences and 6 other industry and lending related meetings to promote the image of members of the recovery industry and gain new foot-holes in the marketplace. In addition the group also created 8 new policies to meet industry demands and standards as well as developing 4 industry accepted continuing education programs for the holders of the FACT/SECT compliance training programs.

The meeting continued with discussion of the groups objectives for 2019 which include but are not limited to a continuation of efforts to target and develop credit union clients, develop closer ties with the major players in the buy here pay here automobile finance market and begin structuring the required documents for the new SSAE 18 SOC 2 audits and consolidation of the new 2018 policies into the 450 plus pages of the Eagle Group XX Data Security and Policies Manual.

An Eagle Flies Over the Horizon - EditorialGuest speakers included Mike Piplinski of Harding Brooks Insurance Agency who discussed current trends in the insurance market as well as the need for Employment Practices Liability Insurance and Kyle Baggett with US Law Shield who offered a very new and innovative product to the members of Eagle Group XX.

A major topic of discussion was the TFA/ARA Unity efforts and the support this endeavor had received from the members of Eagle Group XX with members attending all Unity Conferences and serving on all committees. Through their participation in this unity effort it is indicative that Eagle Group XX members fully endorse this endeavor to unify our industry.

A new member was inducted into the group, Brad Webb of Premier Adjusters, which has numerous offices across central and south Texas was unanimously accepted by the members of Eagle Group XX. Millard Land, who was elevated to the position of “Eagle Emeritus”, pinned the “Eagles Wings” on Brad in the induction ceremony.

The conference covered two continuing education programs, “Meltdown & Spectre… Making Sure Your Computer Systems Are Secure” and “Asset Recovery Assignments on Native American Land”. The Eagle Group XX provides these programs to anyone in the industry who holds the FACT/SECT credential at “NO CHARGE” just by requesting them from Ron Brown at Rbrown2150@aol.com.

The meeting concluded with discussions on numerous other ways to promote the members of Eagle Group XX agencies, increase bottom lines and what to expect from the new BCFP.

An Eagle Flies Over the Horizon - EditorialThe meeting was followed by the annual “Feast of the Eagles Banquet” and fellowship in the Eagles Nest Hospitality Suite.

All in all a very well attended meeting with a lot of outstanding ideas coming from the 20 members of Eagle Group XX, the asset recovery industry’s number one “Think Tank”.
