Allied Finance Adjusters Mourns Murder of Repo Agency Owner
It is with great sadness and regret that Allied Finance Adjusters and its members offer condolences to the family and friends of Greg Hostetler of Greg’s Towing & Recovery in Hervey City, Illinois.
Although the altercation that led to Greg’s murder was apparently a non-consent tow, everyone of our members knows the danger could just as easily have been over a repossession or consent tow. We mourn alongside our brother’s family. And we offer prayers for a speedy recovery and support for Greg’s nephew who was also injured by the murderer.

The individual who shot Greg has been initially charged with First Degree Murder and Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon. He is also being held on Macon County warrants for three counts of Vehicular Invasion and two Decatur Police Department person’s wanted for Vehicle Invasion and Aggravated Fleeing and Eluding. Additional charges are likely pending a review by the Macon County State’s Attorney. The killer was not legally authorized to be in possession of the firearm used in the crime.
Allied Member Jason Kirby has set up a Go Fund Me account to provide financial assistance to the Hostetler family during this tragic time of loss. Donations made be made at: https://gofund.me/42c02709.
While we admonish each other all the time to “be safe out there”, in this instance trouble came looking for Greg at his office. Hyper-vigilance should now be the word of the day.
