On April 12^th, Insight.io held its First Annual “Insightt.io Photo Scavenger Hunt” at the North American Repossessors Summit (NARS) and it was a HUGE success! themselves with. I was one of those scavenger hunt subjects and got caught away from the floor while doing a podcast with Jay at ATI.

At the end of the game, the grand prize winner of the $4,000 cash purse was Amy Smithers of Stealth Towing and Recovery Services in Azle, Texas.

But the biggest and most heart-warming story to come from this was what she did next. She gave it all away!

Larissa Saylor, Shawn’s Auto Recovery Service

Her first recipient was the second prize winner, Larissa Saylor of Shawn’s Auto Recovery Service of Martinsburg, West Virgina. Amy gave $1,500 of her winnings to Larissa. As you may recall, Shawn’s Auto Recovery Service was the employer of Cody Carlin, the 27-year-old-agent murdered in Augusta, WV on July 13, 2023.

Amy’s heart was clearly on her fellow agents and owners that day when she gave the entire remaining $2,500 to Leon Scroggins of RSIG as a donation to the Recovery Agents Benefit Fund (RABF).

Considering this was the first NARS conference following the tragic record number of repossession agents killed in the field in 2023, a major topic of NARS 2024 was agent safety.

Amy read the room well and I congratulate her on her tenacious game win, but we should all appreciate and congratulate her selfless affection for the industry she displayed that day.

Every day we all have opportunities to give and to show appreciation for all that we have by the act of helping and giving to others. That’s a strange thing for the ears of anyone outside of the repossession industry to hear coming from it, but the reality is, this industry is loaded with some wonderful caring, kind, and generous people.

Amy just showed us all that she is one. Thank you, Amy.

And of course, none of this would have happened without all the hard work of Vaughn Clemmons and all of the other members of the NARS planning committee who have, as always, created an incredible event.

With all the tragedy that the repossession industry encountered in 2023, helping the industries fallen and injured was especially challenging for the Recovery Agents Benefit Fund (RABF). Their coffers are nearly empty.
