Berkeley County, SC – December 10, 2024 – It was just before midnight when Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the call. Arriving at the gas station, they met with a repossessor who had just been shot at and injured by a borrower.
According to the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office, they are investigating the shooting of a repossession agent who was wounded by gunfire as he fled the scene of a repossession attempt. Corporal Cali Carr of the Sheriff’s Office, Deputies responded to a call to the Sphinx gas station at College Park Drive and Highway 78 just before midnight where they met the unnamed repossessor who was suffering from gunshot wounds to the arm.
The injured agent reported to investigators that he had gone to an address on Curly Lane to repossess a car. Having successfully lifted it, he was about to drive away when a “Black male in his early 20s, wearing all black with dreads in a bun on top of his head,” walked outside and ordered the victim to leave because they were on private property.
The Repossessor fled but was struck twice in the arm before managing to find safety at the Sphinx gas station where he waited for Deputies. Responding law enforcement found the agent with a belt wrapped around his arm as a makeshift tourniquet.
Emergency medical services soon arrived and took him to an area hospital with what is described as non-life-threatening injuries.
While Detectives are still investigating the case, as of Tuesday evening no arrests have been reported.
